MAIZICOURT GARDENS
The gardens at Maizicourt take visitors on a tour of vegetable gardens, orchards, meadows and a maze.
Château de Maizicourt is a small, single-storey, 18th-century brick and stone residence. In front of the U-shaped façade is the main courtyard, while on the other side, the gardens stretch as far as the eye can see. Long abandoned, they were redesigned and replanted by Catherine Guévenoux in 1989.
As soon as you enter, a Japanese-inspired garden enchants visitors with its weeping cherry trees, bamboo and evergreens. Embracing the façade, the green carpet adorned with flowers gives rise to a long driveway. You can walk along it to reach the shady undergrowth of hazel, maple and hornbeam trees, or get lost in the paths that cross it. A succession of themed gardens takes the visitor in turn to a vegetable garden, an orchard, meadows... These include the Well Garden, with its blue and silver flowers, the Fountain Garden, with its golden hues, the Pigeonnier Garden, in the vein of Spanish gardens, and the Cloister, with its pearly garden on pebbles. Over the years, without even realizing it, Catherine Guévenoux has given birth to 22 gardens, including a labyrinth, all colorful, nuanced and, above all, highly inspired. A beautiful stroll in a superb setting, sure to amaze you, whether you're a botanist, a lover of green spaces, a plant enthusiast or, quite simply, a family passing through the region. In short, don't miss out!
