DOMAINE ROLAND SCHMITT
The Schmitt estate is in the good hands of Anne-Marie and her sons Julien and Bruno. All three have at heart to produce wines magnifying the terroirs, in particular those of the Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergbieten and the Glintzberg area adjacent to the Altenberg. The estate now covers 10 hectares of integrated viticulture: limited treatments, no fertilizers, manual harvesting then pneumatic pressing of whole grapes, indigenous yeasts and maturing on fine lees. The wines are put on sale 6 months after bottling for fruit wines and 10 months for terroir wines. This is what produces critically acclaimed wines. To be tasted, for example, during your visit: the Riesling Glinzberg, the Crémant d'Alsace "Les Bulles de Noémie" (a delicious blend of pinot blanc and pinot noir) and the Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergbieten en Vendanges Tardives.
