WASENBURG CASTLE
Castle on the hill of Riesberg with Gothic bay and shield wall facing the mountain which served as a keep
From its military past, the castle, built on the Riesberg hill, retains the enormous shield wall facing the mountain, which served as a keep. A magnificent Gothic bay window, with nine lancets topped by openwork rosettes, marks the lord's living quarters. Like other Alsatian castles, Wasenbourg fell in 1677 during Louis XIV's "pacification" campaign. The writer Goethe took a stroll there and admired the view over the Alsatian plain. The association Les Amis de la Wasenbourg is responsible for the upkeep of the site.

. Présente peu d'intérêt vu la ruine mais bonne excuse pour se donner un objectif de randonnée
