WAR CEMETERIES AND WAR MEMORIALS
The city was martyred by the two world wars and today counts several military cemeteries, in which there are no fewer than 16,228 soldiers. At national necropolis, rue de Roye, 7,406 French soldiers are buried, of which 1,617 are grouped into 2 ossuaries; while at the German necropolis, rue Jean-Doublet, there are 8 051 German soldiers. A memorial monument to the dead places a tribute to the Montdiderian soldiers killed during the various world wars, and another monument Eustache-Le-Sweeur is dedicated to French aviators fallen in May and June 1940. You can enjoy the works of the sculptor Albert Roze.
