Chinese cemetery under the responsibility of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, a place of meditation and remembrance

Under the responsibility of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, the Nolette Chinese Cemetery is a place of remembrance. Between 1917 and 1919, some 80,000 Chinese Labour Corps workers, all volunteers, were employed by the British Army at the rear of the front. 842 Chinese are buried in this cemetery, most of whom died in the post-war Spanish flu epidemic. This is the largest Chinese cemetery in Europe!

A voir

Right in the middle of the fields, a Chinese cemetery dating from the First World War, amazes surprise more than a visitor! It exudes from this place a peaceful and serene however these people were almost slaves in the service of the British forces and paid of their lives this hard labour.
