ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH
Remodelled over the centuries, it was necessary to achieve the active participation of the inhabitants to give this church a last face, from 1876 to 1879. While the Romanesque Revival style predominates, Gothic buttresses can be found alongside some elements of the original monument, including the holy water font, one of which dates back to 1751, and a choir march from 1865. With its arched spans and sculpted capitals, the building is not lacking in charm. Inside, Mauméjean's stained glass windows highlight the theme of the Sacred Heart with the vision of Saint Margaret Mary, the Virgin, John the Baptist of course and other saints. Carrara marble altars, carved tabernacle doors, medieval floral decoration painted on the choir, white marble baptismal font: you will find in this visit splendid testimonies of religious art in its many facets. The painting of Christ's Baptism near the entrance porch is a good example of this; a copy of Murillo's painting, exhibited in Berlin, was created by the French school in the 18th century and is included in the additional inventory of Historic Monuments.
