FRENCH MEMORIAL CHAPEL AND NECROPOLIS
A national necropolis in Rancourt, with the graves of 8,566 soldiers and the Souvenir Français chapel.
8 566 soldiers are buried in the French necropolis, the largest in the Somme in terms of number of graves, including 5 327 in individual graves and 3 223 in four ossuaries. The chapel of the French Remembrance next to the necropolis dates from 1923. It was built on the initiative of the du Bos family, with the help of a public subscription launched in the United States. It is dedicated in particular to the memory of Lieutenant Jean du Bos, who was killed during the battle of Rancourt.
