SAINT-GILLES CHURCH
This church was "lucky" enough to have been entrusted to mosaic artist Jean Gaudin, who was able to work on the mosaic and stained glass windows.
The church has had an eventful history. First destroyed in 1475 after a fire ravaged the town, then rebuilt at the end of the 15th century thanks to the determination of the parishioners and donors solicited by Pope Innocent VIII, it was again endangered in 1793, but saved once again thanks to the determination of the inhabitants of the faubourg Saint-Gilles. Restored after damage caused by the 1914-1918 fighting, the church was fortunate to have been entrusted to mosaic artist Jean Gaudin, who was able to work on the mosaic and stained glass windows.
