SALT STORAGE
Built in 1736, this is one of the only warehouses in the kingdom of France capable of holding up to 20,000 t.
A warehouse that once had its moment of glory. Built in 1736, it was one of the only warehouses in the kingdom of France that could hold up to 20,000 tons of salt from Guérande, Brouage, Marennes and La Rochelle. This salt was then distributed to the granaries of Picardy, Champagne and Burgundy. Later, coal was stored there. Its roof was removed in 1905. Since 2020, a renovation project has made it possible to accommodate the tourist office, an auditorium, a reception area, an exhibition space and soon a restaurant with a panoramic view of the Bay of the Somme.
