MAISON SAINT-MARTIN
Beautiful bourgeois residence illustrating the austere solemnity of the century
This beautiful bourgeois residence, admirably renovated and transformed into magnificent apartments, has preserved much of its original décor (wrought-iron banisters, balusters, panelling, window frames...) in exceptional condition. Built in 1713 by Alexandre Saint-Martin, then mayor of Saint-Jean-de-Luz and a member of one of the city's leading shipowning and merchant families. Outwardly intact, the Maison Saint-Martin illustrates the austere solemnity of the 18th century. The interior is organized around a vast staircase.
