PALEONTOLOGICAL SITE OF ANGEAC-CHARENTE
A quarry located in Angeac-Charente, one of Europe's largest deposits of dinosaur bones.
In 2010, the Audoin quarry emerged as one of Europe's most important deposits of dinosaur bones. The first digs unearthed hundreds of pieces, including an extraordinary 2.40 m long femur from a sauropod dating back 130 million years. The excavation campaigns are described on the site through a self-guided, interactive tour that places the discoveries in the light of their historical context. In summer, guided tours of the site are offered, as well as paleontology workshops for children.
