This city is the symbol of Angoulême, home to an international residence for comic strip and moving image artists.
Angoulême is home to the Cité internationale de la bande dessinée, an emblematic site with over 8,000 original comic strips, one of the largest collections in Europe. It features a library, a bookshop with 4,000 new titles, an artists' residence and 2 movie theaters. The 1,300 m² Musée de la BD showcases Franco-Belgian comics, comic books and manga. Undergoing reinvention until August 2026, it remains open with temporary exhibitions such as "Trésors des collections".
