Saint-Jacques Gate in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, a World Heritage site, marks the end of a road.
The street ends at the Porte Saint-Jacques, a World Heritage site and the starting point of the old peregrination route. You then come to Rue de la Citadelle and, at no. 55, a refuge offered by the Association des Amis de Saint-Jacques. At the bottom of the street, the Notre-Dame-de-la-rue-du-Bout-du-Pont church, then the bridge and the Nive river. A landscape and a final respite before the Ibaneta pass in Spain, via a harrowing route to the dreaded Jacquets mountains. Here begins one of the toughest routes on the circuit, with 13 km of ascent and descent.
