RUE D'ESPAGNE
Street featuring religious symbols, Christian monograms, Latin crosses, rosettes and solar symbols.
Rue d'Espagne is a very commercial street, from door to door. See the Maison des Etats de Navarre (1610). Most of the houses date from the 18th century. With old stonework and carved inscriptions on the lintels or keystones of the houses lining the cobbled street. Also along the street, religious symbols, Christian monograms, Latin crosses, rosettes and solar symbols. Testimony to a rich Basque heritage in the heart of the citadel, where the majority of houses were built or rebuilt in durable materials in the 17th century.
