BALZAC CASTLE
Castle built around 1600, it was the hermitage of the writer Jean-Louis Guez de Balzac with vaulted room, frescoes, canal and park
Built around 1600 on the banks of the Charente, this château was the hermitage of the famous writer Jean-Louis Guez de Balzac, and welcomed Marie de Médicis, Richelieu and other elites of the time.
Since 1974, when it was acquired by the current owners, the château has undergone extensive renovation work, which has most recently brought to light the remains of frescoes.
The award-winning château can be visited in summer to discover its historic highlights: the Romanesque church, the vaulted great hall, the salon, the frescoes and the colonnades.
