ST. MARY'S CHURCH
The Abbey Abbey church was founded in the early th century by the monks of Puypéroux. In the nave, the base of the bell seems to be laid there, in a incongruous way. It's the oldest part. The octagonal dome on the tubes leaves a Auvergne influence (Saint Arthémy was the first bishop of Clermont). The choir dates back to the end of the th century. Four atlanteans, carved on the capitals, look to support the weight of the vault. The nave and transept were erected in the th century. Their sculpture contrasts with that of the Romanesque part. The bestiary and the invasive flora have disappeared to accommodate a small leaf decor. The facade, decorated with columns of columns, travels to the Orient, while intriguing the art historians. The steeple, of extreme elegance, reveals a limousine influence here. Unfortunately, the last floor was missing from a hurricane in 1816. The charm of the church Saint-Arthémy comes from this juxtaposition of periods, styles and influences. The recent restorations reveal murals and funeral logs indicating that this church has not yet revealed all its secrets. Concerts are held at least once a month.
