A discovery of a pyramidal fountain, with a small village with buildings from all eras, and a paved street
On its promontory, the old town of Briguil will delight those who love the medieval atmosphere with its cobbled alleyways, its round Quiterne tower, its 11th century gates, its lantern of the dead (12th century) and its Romanesque church (11th to 15th century). This one, dedicated to Saint Martial, has a Renaissance portal facing south, which is very rare. Inside is the tomb of Marguerite de Chabot, wife of the Viscount of Briguil, Pierre de Reilhac, who died in 1503. Around the church are the remains of a square keep (11th and 12th century), the Merovingian Calvary and the Logis de l'Espérance (11th century, renovated in the 17th century). Another curiosity: a pyramidal fountain (much more recent, built in 1820). Buildings from all eras intersect in the small village, when at the bend in a cobbled street, we discover a small media library nestled under the old stones. As if nothing had changed, the recent houses surround the old keep, as in the time of its former grandeur.
