Exploring the Maine Giraud winery and its link with Alfred de Vigny.
In the 19th century, the Maine Giraud estate was owned by Alfred de Vigny, who came here to recharge his batteries and meditate. This Romantic poet was also a passionate winegrower. The current owner, Mathieu Durand, guides visitors through all aspects of the vineyard and its work, and teaches them more about A. de Vigny. The estate continues this winemaking tradition, producing cognac, pineau and vins de Pays charentais in the Charentais tradition.
