ST. LÉGER'S CHURCH
The Romanesque façade of this church stands out from those of other buildings
A former Benedictine priory, listed as a historic monument in 1883, it is the town's main parish church, right in the heart of Cognac's historic center. The 12th-century Romanesque facade stands out from other buildings of this type, as it was adorned with a rose window, added 300 years later. From its construction in 1130, to the successive alterations of the following centuries, Saint-Léger church has preserved an astonishing blend of Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles. The portal is decorated with the signs of the zodiac.
