This menhir stands near the road between Confolens and Esse
Le Repaire is easy to spot... The menhir du repaire, also known as the menhir des boisselées, stands near the road between Confolens and Esse. And it's no ordinary stone: this 2.65 m high, 2.10 m wide and 1.20 m thick granite block is quite imposing... It brings to life the period in the 1st century BC, when the druids performed their cult ceremonies in homage to trees, stones and fountains. A rare souvenir, probably because it's one of the last megaliths of its kind in the Charente.
