ST. PETER'S CHURCH
Church of the Priory of Saint-Pierre, with a rectangular nave and a façade copying that of the abbey of Châtres
Saint-Pierre Priory Church dates back to the 8th century, and was occupied by Benedictine monks from the end of the 11th century. The nave is rectangular and divided into three bays. The style changed from Pre-Romanesque to Romanesque, then to Gothic in the 13th century. A square crypt and a choir with a chevet replaced the old ones, which had been demolished. Protestants set fire to the church in the 16th century, which was subsequently rebuilt. The façade is a copy of that of the Châtres abbey in Saint-Brice. François Mitterrand's funeral took place here on January 11, 1996.
