FEDERAL CITY

A small village on the border of Angoumois and Périgord, Marthon overlooks the entire valley of Bandiat, a relic of medieval times where it was an important offensive place. To access the tower of the Breuil, the former stronghold of the th century castle that rises above the roofs of the village, you have to borrow a small street that winds between the houses from the Saint-Jean tower. Also in the th century, this rectangular tower now hosts concerts and art exhibitions. St. Martin's Church presents Enfeus (falling into the thickness of a wall) and Romanesque capitals while the church of Saint-Sylvester, which has the age of its arteries, still manages to show the four of its apse (th century dusapin).
