CASTRAL COMPLEX

The medieval castle currently only remains the dungeon on a platform overlooking the Charente River and the door of the fortified compound composed of two towers, which has kept a pretty proud look. The fortress of the fortress was located on the current field of fair. Located at the crossroads of two important Roman tracks, the site of Montignac was occupied very early. A retranché camp existed in the th century, but the castle dates back to the th and th centuries. Originally attributed to the Taillefer, the castle then returned to the Count of Angouleme then to the Lusignan and to La Rochefoucauld until the Revolution.

The whole is visible from the esplanade, but is not open to the public, except during certain demonstrations or exhibitions.
