SAULT CASTLE
There are only ruins of this castle, but it continues to impose itself in the landscape of landes around Sault-de-Navailles. Erected on a castrale motte of the th century, it was the subject of infighting. Indeed, the Vicomté de was on the border between the Duchy of Aquitaine (long in the hands of the English) and the Vicomté de. The strategic position of the building, in height above the Luy de Béarn, made it very interesting to monitor this boundary limit. Béarnais and Aquitanians, from a first siege led by the Duke of Leicester in 1265, stopped giving assaults to resume this building until a last blow in 1374. Nowadays, it's only a nice tower, the dungeon that had to contain two pieces, on an inner courtyard, there is only a small part of the wall wall. Impressive to see.
