CASTLE ABBEY

Classified as a historic monument in 1948, Châtre Abbey is one of the jewels of Romanesque art.
In the th century it was an abbey of the Canons regular of Saint Augustine. It was ravaged by religious wars in the th century. The Abbey is now that from outside, and the signs from the centre of Saint Brice have to be followed.
Lost in the countryside, you can admire its facade at three levels of arcatures and its polylobé portal. All the capitals are sculpted, turn round and find those that are sculpted by human figures. For a pleasant and peaceful moment until the renovation works make this place steeped in history accessible.
