COMMANDERY CHAPEL
Chapelle de la Commanderie in Confolens, listed as a Monument Historique, now owned by the commune
On the heights of Confolens, near the Place du Champ de Foire, stands one of the last vestiges in France of the Order of the Hospitallers of the Holy Spirit, the chapel of the Commandery. Established in the 13th century, the Confolens hospital was sold as public property in the 18th century. The former chapel was subsequently used for various purposes (barn, garage) unrelated to worship. Now owned by the commune, it is listed as a Monument Historique.
