A first church is mentioned on this site in 990 as a dependency of the Charroux abbey. During the 12th century, it became a dependency of the Lesterps abbey. No trace remains of this first building. The oldest part of the present-day church, located in the heart of the town, may date from the 13th century: the Limousin-style portal. It has undergone numerous alterations, including the addition of neo-Gothic elements and the construction of a new bell tower in the 19th century. A monumental organ has been installed in the church since 2023.
