MEDIAEVAL CITY
The city center of Confolens has an undeniable medieval atmosphere, with cobbled streets, half-timbered houses
Between Vienne and Goire, the heart of Confolens exudes a medieval atmosphere. In this maze of sometimes cobbled, often steep streets, there's no shortage of architectural curiosities, from half-timbered houses to staircase towers, right up to the Hospitaller Commandery. Some streets have evocative names, like the steep Rue Casse-Cou, or the darker Rue du Soleil. Strollers will also discover "la Salle", a former 13th-century courtroom whose facade faces the church of Saint-Maxime, and the remains of the 11th-century keep.
