GABARRIER VILLAGE
A discovery trail that takes in the village's still-visible traces of life in the days of the gabarriers.
The village of Saint-Simon was home to shipyards. The barges that carried cognac, paper, salt, wood and stone from quarries to the sea were built here. A bustle of activity reigned here, between the passage of boats loaded with goods and the construction work of the gabarriers. Today, traces of this activity are still visible in the village. Follow the signs on the discovery trail, which starts in the square near the church and the gabarriers' house.
