THE TEMPLE
This imposing temple, with its sculpted bible pediment, bears witness to the importance of Protestantism in Segonzac's history.
Since the 16th century, Segonzac has been one of the first centers of Protestantism in the Angoumois region. Its Reformed church was established in 1558. The Segonzac temple was built on the site of a barn, which first became a house of prayer, then a temple in a previous version. After an intense history, in resonance with that of Protestantism in France, the temple imposes itself with its massive architecture and a pediment sculpted with a verse from the Gospel. The furniture has been preserved. Since 1998, the temple has been listed as a historic monument.
