Gaurko Makila workshop in Espelette, making traditional medlar makilas from a long line of manufacturers
Their names are Bilbo, Mundaka, Baztan, Txindoki... These are the new generation of makilas, combining tradition and new technologies. This typical Basque stick was imagined by "Xabaltx", Pantxoa Bergara, a well-known cultural and economic figure in the Basque Country. Respectful of tradition and descended from a long line of manufacturers, Pantxoa Bergara has brought the makila into the present and the future. Have a makila made to your image by having your stylized initials, company or association logo engraved.
