CRAZANNES CASTLE
This castle, classified as a historical monument, is one of the treasures of Saintonge
More than just a historic building, Château de Crazannes is one of the treasures of the Saintonge region. Classified as a historic monument, it is also known as "le château du Chat botté" (the castle of Puss in Boots), as it inspired Charles Perrault's famous fairy tale. A feudal castle in the 11th century, it kept watch over the village and the Charente river. Although guided tours are reserved for groups, you can admire the castle's various rooms and even spend the night in one of its five bedrooms. A gîte in the keep can accommodate up to 6 people for a weekend or more.
