LE CHÂ P'TIT VA LOIN
String or trendy bin, the Trav p 'tit goes far (which is slowly going away) is the country's last non-motorized cable tray. It links the Charente between the communes of Dompierre-sur-Charente and Rouffiac. Inaugurated in 2009, it comes from an old 30-ton mill, weighing 7 tons, measuring 12 meters long and 4.20 meters wide, and offering a crossing of the Charente over 60 meters, vehicles (cars, motorcycles and cycles) and pedestrians. Economical and ecological since it works with a chain-oriented crank system, it is maneuvered by a smuggler. The ferry is a priority on boats. It takes three minutes at the speed of 1.2 km/h to connect the sockets. Nearly 1,500 cars, 1,300 motorcycles and 2,000 pedestrians are transported each season.
