THE FOOD COURT
The showroom of this building houses an exhibition, while the upper floor is used by researchers
With its red bricks and its limestone, this building is surprising! Built in 1631, the Halle aux Vivres is to Brouage what the Corderie Royale is to Rochefort. On two levels, with a semi-buried first floor and 48 windows, the building was formerly used as a warehouse for the conservation of cereals, allowing to supply the troops. Transformed into a barracks and then a prison, the building was sold to a private individual. Bought by the municipality, it is renovated. The exhibition room houses an exhibition while the first floor hosts researchers.
