The Café de l'Océan is a brasserie, but a brasserie facing the main square of the island, shaded and apart from the tourist passage… This is not negligible in summer! The terrace is open to idleness and long relaxation. And if time doesn't allow you to stay outside, install peacefully inside: The garden evokes the inside of a boat and looks like a kind of returned shell, all wood. The speciality of the house? La charentaise.

Je m'y suis rendue en Août 2016 en pleine période touristique. J'ai pris un menu avec une salade de saint-jacques assez complète (je ne l'ai pas fini). C'était excellant ! Le dessert original était une tarte au melon (de Charente, c'est agréable de manger local) et à la lavande. Malheureusement pour moi ce n'était pas à mon goût mais ce n'est pas grave. Le service était simple, et le rapport qualité prix est correct. Je recommande.
To avoid at all costs! Simply feel to " arnaquer". We went to eat in this café on March 7th, 2012. Concerning the reception, there is nothing special to say. However, the cuisine, quantity, value for money are deplorable. Ever disappointed at this point and we do not have used to be guests " difficult. The 10th dish: one crunches monsieur fried/salad (not only frozen but also very poor quality) or a beef fried/salad. Not only quantity is not, but almost inedible chips so they are grasse, and oil has given the old for several weeks to see several months. In short our only satisfaction in summer not to have been sick. Frankly for a few euros moreover more, but your tastebuds and your wallet can go from here you will eat next door at the hotel restaurant Napoleon.
just BOF! all... is frozen wait... too expensive for what it is: a canteen...
