JONZAC CASTLE
The castle, set on a rocky spur 22 meters above the Seugne river, is a symbol of the town.
This châtelet, set on a rocky spur above the Seugne river, has welcomed prestigious guests such as Louis XIII, Louis XIV and Mazarin. In the 17th century, the Château district on the hilltop was the real Jonzac. The main courtyard opens onto the buildings of today's Hôtel de Ville, refurbished in the 19th century, and those of the Jonzac sub-prefecture. Today, the château proudly displays its magnificent facade thanks to a masterly restoration. If you're smart, you can now visit the châtelet and discover the covered walkway!
