THE COVERED MARKET
Market, home to traders from the villages, but above all a place to chat with producers
Like the other markets in the department, Jonzac's market allows locals and visitors alike to stock up on local produce. Like those in La Rochelle, the covered market halls, dating from the late 19th century, provide a delightful setting for trading. A stone's throw from the church, on the market square, the iron and cast-iron pavilion is one of the spa town's must-see addresses. Some fifty producers (butchers, market gardeners, fishmongers....) are present three days a week, and a green market is held on Sunday mornings.
