Italian cuisine in a pizzeria in La Rochelle.
Located 10 minutes from the Old Port and not far from the ring road, this pizzeria is attracting more and more gourmets. Don't expect to devour your pizza on the spot: there's no dining room, but rather a counter where you can watch the pizza-maker delicately and dexterously handle the dough for which he's famous. It has to be said that the man is gifted. He holds a CQP from the Chambre des Métiers, is a graduate of the prestigious Italian school Scuiola Italiana Pizzaioli, and also finished seventh in the French championship. There's no doubt that the dough is particularly good, but so are the ingredients placed on top: the flour, tomato sauce, oil and cold meats are all fresh and, above all, 100% Italian. Even with a reduced menu, the choice is always interesting. You'll love the Roma with its blend of candied peppers and chorizo, the Puglia with its mix of burrata and chicken, and the Maestro with its speck ham, peppers and arugula. Smart tip: if you want your pizza at 7:30-8pm, remember to order at 5pm.
