Small restaurant in the heart of the city to enjoy seafood in La Rochelle.
This small restaurant enjoys a particularly pleasant location right in the heart of town. Set in a pretty square, a little way back from the port, the Panier de Crabes is just the place for those who want to enjoy the freshest seafood. The dining room is small, dominated by a large bar and an exposed stone wall, but when the weather's fine, head for the pleasant terrace. Seated around a small table, you'll discover the products of ecailler Olivier Tétaud: special Roumegeous oysters from claires Marennes-Oléron, seafood platter (half crab, special oysters, king prawns, langoustines, whelks, shrimps, periwinkles), whelks in tartar sauce. Rest assured, you can also devour charcuterie from Monsieur Riton, a true artisan: Charentais fagot with sage, pig terrine with Espelette pepper, Farci Charentais. For dessert, treat yourself to a few cheeses from Fred (L'Epicurium), a cheese maturer well known to cheese lovers. It's even possible to choose a dish from the restaurant next door!
