An old tower facing the Atlantic, used as both arsenal and prison, with the Tour de la Chaîne opposite.

Facing the Atlantic, these stone fortresses are the emblem of the city, and have watched over the Vieux Port for centuries. Built in the ^14th century, the Tour Saint-Nicolas served as both arsenal and prison. After a period of deterioration, it was restored to its former glory, and is now open to visitors once again. Opposite is the Tour de la Chaîne, named after the chain that barred the entrance to the port. The other tower is located near the parapet walk. Carefully restored, it stands out for its bright color and spire.

Opening time and information on ROCK TOWERS

Open all year round. Closed January 1, May 1 and December 25. Low season: daily and public holidays from 10am to 1pm and from 2.15pm to 5.30pm. High season: daily and public holidays from 10am to 6:30pm. Closed on the first Monday of each month. Free admission for children under 18. Adults: €11. Dogs not allowed. Store.

Le classique de la rochelle pour connaître l'histoire de la ville et de son architecture. De plus, super endroit pour avoir un point de vue sur la mer et la ville de la rochelle.

A ne pas rater, ces 3 tours sont les emblèmes incontournables de la Rochelle, un peu de monde en été bien sur, mais compensé par l'originalité et la vue.

Unavoidable heritage, very nice seen from above and explanations at a high level, you must have a good leg if you plan to climb the 3 towers.
