One of the most famous lighthouses of the Charente-Maritime, offering a delightful view and a breathtaking panorama in La Tremblade.
It is one of the most famous lighthouses in the Charente-Maritime region, which alone symbolizes the link between man and the ocean. At the end of the 17th century, a first building was reported, it is still only a fire beacon. A first wooden lighthouse appeared in 1860, then a second in 1895 which was swallowed by the waves. It would take ten years before the majestic silhouette, tinged with white and red, took off and watched over an area known for its dangerousness. Now fully automated, it dominates an exceptional environment that will be admired after climbing the 300 steps of a spiral staircase in a blue opaline interior. The view is delicious, the panorama breathtaking: the view is breathtaking on the wild coast of La Tremblade and its magnificent beaches, the forest of La Coubre, the Gironde estuary and the island of Oléron. The visit continues with an eco-museum at the foot of the lighthouse, telling its history and the equipment necessary for its operation.
