THE CHAPEL
Chapel at the entrance to the village, in existence since the century, as shown by marriage registers
The Saint-Joseph chapel, located at the entrance to the village, has existed since the 18th century, as marriage registers show. In the following century, it took the intervention of priest Jacques Ayraud, aided by parishioners, to prevent the monument from falling into ruin. At the end of the 19th century, another priest, Jean Alexandre Vincent, realized that the chapel was still under threat. Again, restoration was necessary. A century later, a painter from Oléron decorated the walls with scenes from daily life. To visit, contact the office.
