LA CHAPELLE DE SOCORRI
A chapel located between sea and mountains, an emblematic pilgrimage site in the Urrugne region.
Situated between sea and mountains, with a remarkable view, this chapel was erected on a hill in the 16th century in homage to Notre Dame du Bon Secours, apparently by sailors who had implored the Blessed Virgin to send them a favorable wind when they were in danger. Destroyed in 1793, it was rebuilt in 1831, and discoidal steles were also erected to pay tribute to the victims of the cholera epidemic of 1855. On the3rd Sunday in August, a procession heads for the site. The chapel is an emblematic pilgrimage site in the region.
