The caves form a unique site that has served for centuries as a refuge from ferocious animals.

The Grottes (Matata and Régulus) are listed among the most remarkable sites in Charente-Maritime. Overlooking Europe's largest estuary, they are a unique site that for centuries served as a refuge for mankind, particularly from ferocious animals. Use the audioguide to discover how people lived in the 19th century. You can end your visit on a gourmet note on the terrace of the crêperie, or spend the night in the hotel, whose rooms offer a breathtaking view!
