This lagoon treatment plant, the largest of its kind in Europe, provides environmentally-friendly treatment of Rochefort's wastewater. Just a stone's throw from the river, the treatment center is at the heart of a nature park, and is an example of high-performance environmental management. Managed by the town and the LPO (Ligue de Protection des Oiseaux, based in Rochefort) and located in the heart of the peri-urban marshes, the plant can be visited with a guide. It's an opportunity to understand how it works and its importance for birds, with access to the observatory.
