Visit to the "vieille forme", the oldest masonry dry dock in the world, dating back to 1671 in Rochefort

Arriving from downtown, you enter the Arsenal, as those who worked there once did, through the gate (of the Arsenal, of course) built in 1831. Many of the original buildings have now disappeared, including the private stores, the counterpart to the Corderie Royale. To complete your visit, head beyond the harbor to see "la vieille forme", the oldest masonry dry dock in the world (1671), and visit the "Fabrique de l'Arsenal" for an immersive tour. The Arsenal includes the Corderie Royale, the Musée de la Marine and the Accro-mâts.
