The island's most symbolic monument, the Baleines lighthouse in Saint-Clément-des-Baleines.

It's the island's most symbolic monument! To reach it, you'll have to head west. The first tower was erected at the end of the 17th century to mark the reefs at the entrance to the channels, but its range was far too limited and it was not visible in foggy weather. It wasn't until the 19thcentury that a new building was erected. This time, the tower was substantial, 57 meters high and its light visible for 50 kilometers. 257 steps up the spiral staircase! You'll enjoy a magnificent panorama.

très beau site de l'Île avec une vue magnifique du haut du phare. l'ascension se fait bien et permet de voir la totalité de l'ïle. de belles balades tout autour du site.
