The jewel of the Renaissance located in the heart of the city, the fountain of the pillory and old streets in Saint-Jean-d'Angély
This fountain is located in the center of the town on the square of the same name. In the Middle Ages, the place had a bad reputation! It's true that it didn't welcome tourists, but rather convicts, exposed and tied to the pillory. The building, listed as a Monument Historique, was once part of the Château de Brizambourg. It took the mobilization of the local inhabitants to save it in 1819. Stone by stone, it was dismantled and erected on its present site.
