HÔTEL DE TOIRAS * * * * *
Hotel in a haven of peace on the port of Saint-Martin-de-Ré with a quality restaurant.
What a pleasure it is to enter this 17th-century mansion on the port of Saint-Martin-de-Ré. The hotel is a true haven of peace. The staff are attentive to your every wish. Your luggage will be waiting for you in one of the 20 rooms, each of which tells the story of a character who crossed the Ile de Ré. These cocoons of softness offer unrivalled comfort for a stay in the heart of a pretty village in Ré. The hotel's restaurant, George's, is renowned for its terrace overlooking the harbor and the oceanic cuisine of young chef Jeffrey.

When we booked the room over the phone, we believed that the hotel was full.... so as a result, we booked the best room they had because it was available. In fact, we were the only ones at the hotel and could have had a regular deluxe room if we would have known.
On the menu they offer filet of sole for 2 at 180.00 Euro! Thats two fish. Who would have the audacity to charge that?
The bathroom opens into the bedroom and there is really no seperation from the shower / bathtub and the bedroom. Kind of funky? The ceiling is low so watch your head when you open the shutters.
The point is, the hotel is nice enough, but I left "feeling had" and I hate that. We won't going back as there are other alternatives.
