HÔTEL DE L’AVENUE * *
Hotel near the train station in Saintes offering rooms with different decorations and view on the patio.
This hotel enjoys an interesting location on an avenue crossing the city. Close to the train station and restaurants, it is also close to the pedestrian streets and has a secure car park with 20 spaces for cars and motorbikes. The reception is rather friendly, offering some visiting tips. The hotel offers 15 rooms, each with a different decoration and a soothing atmosphere overlooking the patio or the garden, a great place to relax in the summer. The bedding is comfortable and the equipment up to expectations (flat screen TV, wifi, bathroom with bathtub or Italian shower).

So, if you still feel like staying there even after this review, at least make sure the place is open before you book!!!
The hotel is in ruin. There are weird marks and goofily patched up areas on the walls. It smells questionably. The carpet in the corridors is filthy. The parking, unlike what it says and shows in the web pages, isn’t secured and gets flooded to the point it needed a pump truck to dry it up. The roof got completely flooded and the fire brigade had to intervene to check the safety of the property. It was declared unsafe because of the lack of fire detectors! The local authorities declared the immediate closing and sent the police to evacuate the rooms. The apparently nice manager in fact tried to find a way out of finding us another room in a different hotel pretending there was none or that his payment attempts were unsuccessful. All this despite the presence of the police! In the end he gave us cash and we book a different hotel ourselves. He kept us waiting for a solution for hours until 10 pm, kids on an empty stomach.
